Airgun Hobbyist
“Oh the possibilities”, that was my first thought when
Paul Baxter and David Priestley of Inovairtech, recently
introduced me to their new airgun, the MAC35.
What makes the MAC35 so unique is the ingenious
Magnum Air Cartridge (MAC) that is similar to a centerfire
cartridge. However, instead of containing gun powder, the
cartridge contains high-pressure air!
The possibilities seemed almost endless as I handled
the bolt action MAC35 air rifle. I could imagine the airgun
being used as both a civilian and military trainer, by game
wardens to remove feral animals in urban areas, of course
hunting, and even plinking.
My thoughts of different airgun possibilities
continued as they handed me the just over 4” long MACs.
The MAC measures about the same size as .50 BMG case
and holds a 9 mm bullet. The MAC is something to see and
opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Imagine a PCP
powered shotgun, magazine fed repeater, and even a PCP
revolver using the Magnum Air Cartridges.
MAC35 Air Rifle
Based in Henderson, NV these revolutionary
new airguns are made in the USA out of high quality
materials. The 28” match grade bull barrels are made
from moly chrome steel with a stainless cover / shroud.
While the frame is constructed from one piece of light
weight aircraft quality
anodized aluminum.
The MAC35 offers the
realism of a centerfire
rifle. The MAC35 bolt
action air rifle loads,
fires, and ejects just
like a centerfire powder
burner. If you were
handed a MAC35 at the
range, and didn’t know
the cartridge was filled
with air, you’d think you were shooting a quiet firearm.
Features of the MAC35 include a 18” top
mounted Picatinny rail for easy addition of accessories
such as scopes or iron sights. A second almost 5”
Picatinny rail is on the bottom of the frame allowing for
bi-pod, lasers, and other accessories to be mounted.
A matte finished aluminum muzzle protector is a
nice touch that does not only protect the crown of the
barrel from damage, it adds some style to an already
distinctive airgun profile.

MAC size.
The MAC35 is a big air rifle measuring from 51.5”
to 55” depending on the stocks adjustable length. The pre-
production unit we tested weighed in at 10 pounds and 10
ounces with the bi-pod and sights installed.
As for accuracy, clover leaf 3 shot groups were
obtained at 30 yards using the bi-pod and iron sights.
With a quality scope, the pattern would surely be even
tighter.
This substantial feeling air rifle packs some serious
punch. The MAC35 can fire 9 mm soft lead bullets that
produce up to
120 foot pounds
of energy. A
variety of pellet
and bullet
weights ranging
from 67 to 190 grains offer wide range of possibilities
to different applications.
In case you were wondering, The MAC35 is designed
exclusively to be an airgun. Under no circumstances
should an attempt be made to fire live rounds.
Magnum Air Cartridge
Each MAC is a self contained valve system, machined
from a solid high strength nickel plated steel bar. While
the ends of the MAC are constructed from stainless
steel. Inside the MAC’s are Delrin high pressure
seals used for the key inlet and outlet seals. Specially
designed O rings are used to maintain the pressure.
What are the benefits of the Magnum Air Cartridge?
In other big bore PCP’s where the air tube is filled
with high-pressure air, the shooter is limited to 3-4
